Accident
A film by Cheang Pou-Soi
Southwest Premiere
“We’ve always been discreet.”
Moody and engrossing, ACCIDENT feels every inch the Johnnie To procedural, but this time the AFFD favorite only serves as producer; Cheang Pou-Soi (LOVE BATTLEFIELD, DOG BITE DOG) helms this tale about a team of assassins who set up elaborate hits on their targets. Led by Brain (Louis Koo), the team covers every aspect of a potential crime scene from traffic to passersby to seemingly random objects like ladders, bicycles and balloons; it might appear a man has been accidentally electrocuted, but painstaking effort and split-second timing cover up for brutal murder.
When a job goes horribly wrong, Brain takes on a new assignment to get back at an insurance agent he assumes is out to expose him. But has Brain’s paranoia and mistrust of his own team finally pushed him over the edge? What begins as a clockwork thriller turns into a psychological drama that will keep you guessing until the very last scenes.
With an intense performance by Koo and shades of Coppola’s classic THE CONVERSATION, ACCIDENT is a great piece of Hong Kong suspense.
The AFFD is proud to present the Southwest premiere of ACCIDENT.
