US Premiere
“What about a movie with a twist where everybody is a ghost but they don’t realize it?”
“That’s original. Like you’ve never seen that before!”
PHOBIA 2 expands on its predecessor’s four gruesome Thai tales, offering up five new short stories filled with gore, thrills, suspense and laughs.
NOVICE (dir: Paween Purijitpanya) is about a young man who commits a crime but bypasses jail by joining a Buddhist monastery located in the dense Thai jungle. But at night, he begins to see haunting images and must pay a terrifying price for his actions.
WARD (dir: Visute Poolvoralaks) begins with a young man stuck in a hospital room with two fractured legs. In the next bed is an old man that the nurse says is near death, but every time he’s left alone, frightening things occur. Is he dreaming, or haunted?
BACKPACKERS (dir: Songyos Sugmakanan) tells the story of a pair of Japanese hitchhikers who are picked up by a pair of Thai truckers. But what are these men hauling, and when the driver takes off down a deserted dirt road, what’s in store for our innocent tourists?
SALVAGE (dir: Parkpoom Wongpoom) starts as a used car saleswoman is berated by a customer who has an issue with the car she just purchased. See, the saleswoman deals in a very special kind of auto; but what are those voices she hears at night on the lot?
IN THE END (dir: Banjong Pisanthanakun) takes the four friends from PHOBIA’s camping segment IN THE MIDDLE and places them on the set of a Thai horror film, where one actress appears to be dying. How will they handle re-writes when their star is a ghost? These films always need a good twist…
PHOBIA 2 is great late night fun. The AFFD is happy to be presenting the film’s U.S. premiere.
